Why should your signs be powder coated?

Businesses of all sizes, across all industries, need to market their company to full effect. This does not only relate to online marketing, which is, of course, flourishing at the moment. It also relates to tangible marketing; marketing that we can touch, from point of sale signage to display signs. This form of advertising is just as important as it ever has been. If you own business premises or a retail operation on the high street you do not have eye-catching and professional signage to advertise your business, no one is going to stop and take note. Or worse still, if your signage is of poor quality, it might even damage the perception of your brand.

The way in which a sign is cut and designed has a huge impact on appearance and longevity. Once an aluminium sign has been cut, it is advisable to ensure that this is powder coated. This will ensure your sign lasts for many years to come and creates that professional image that is so important.

Before we delve into the benefits of powder coating, let’s take a quick look at what this actually is. Powder coating is a dry finishing process that was developed in the ‘60s, which can be used on a wide range of metals. The coating consists of a mixture of curatives, resins, pigments, and other protective ingredients, which will then be ground into a powder that is extremely fine. The powder will be sprayed onto the sign via the use of an electrostatic spray machine. The coated sign will then be put inside of a finishing oven so that it bakes, permanently binding the very hard coating to the metal.

There are a number of different benefits that are associated with getting your signs powder coated. This includes the following:

  • Enhanced durability - A sign that has been powder-coated is resistant to the elements and extremely strong. It is highly UV ray and chip resistant. Plus, it can withstand weathering and typical storms with no fading or damage, potentially for decades.
  • Colour selection - You also have the possibility of a wide range of colours by going down this route because powder coating can be formulated to create any colour or combination of colours you wish. There is also a great selection of different finishes to choose from as well, enabling to create many different amazing effects, for instance, an iridescent sheen or a glitter finish. This is going to make your sign a lot more noticeable and unique.

  • Long-term ROI - Another important benefit associated with getting your signs powder coated is the fact that it will pay for itself again, and again, and again! This means that replacement costs and maintenance expenses are reduced dramatically. You may have to spend a little bit in the beginning, but it’s a worthwhile investment to achieve the durability and first class finish that you need.
